The Style section of the Stylebook covers matters of style and grammar. These are primarily conventions that are peculiar to our publications, but also include some standard rules that frequently cause problems or involve common errors.

The Style section is intended as a reference for authors and editors.

Contents:

• Numbers: treatment of numbers, primarily rules governing the use of numerals versus spelling out the number.
• Punctuation: explains essential rules of punctuation that our publications follow. This area is organized according to type of punctuation mark.
• Spelling: covers distinctive treatment of words and standards for compound words, italics, and treatment of titles.
• House Style covers miscellanious style rules that are unique to our course guides and exams.
